Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026 · DRAFT — pending counsel review

The short version

We collect the information you give us so we can deliver our free programs and stay in touch with you about them. We never sell your information. You can ask us what we have about you, or ask us to delete it, any time.

Who we are

Urban Connection ("we," "us," "our") is a nonprofit organization. This policy covers the website urbanconnection.com and the information you share with us through it. Questions? Email hello@urbanconnection.com.

What we collect

When you fill out a form on this site, we collect what you type in it:

  • Your first name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (only if you choose to give it)
  • Your state
  • Your answer to "What happened?" (for example: laid off, hours cut)
  • Whether you said it's okay to text you (only if you checked that box)

Like most websites, our hosting provider also automatically logs basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

  • To deliver the free program you signed up for — sending your first steps guide, session invitations, and program materials.
  • To contact you about your registration — by email, and by phone or text only if you gave us your number (and, for texts, only if you checked the texting box).
  • To understand our programs better in aggregate (for example, how many people from each state sign up) so we can serve people well.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We only share it with service providers who help us run the program (for example, our website host and email service), and only so they can do that work for us.

Text messages

If you checked the box saying it's okay to text you, we may send occasional texts about the free program. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time and we'll stop. Leaving the box unchecked never affects your access to any program.

Your rights (including California residents — CCPA)

Everyone, in any state, can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we have — a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct it — fix anything that's wrong.
  • Delete it — remove your information from our records.
  • Stop contacting you — unsubscribe from emails or texts at any time.

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right not to be discriminated against for using them. Because we never sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front — but the access and deletion rights above are always available.

To use any of these rights, email hello@urbanconnection.com with the subject line "Privacy request." We'll respond within 45 days, and we may ask a question or two to confirm it's really you before sharing or deleting anything.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while you're part of a program or on our contact list, and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless the law requires us to keep something.

Children

Our programs and this website are for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be announced to people on our contact list.
